HH, Mutinta call on the family to embrace unity
President Hakainde Hichilema and First Lady Mutinta have called on Zambian families to embrace love, harmony and unity in their homes as a foundation for peace and happiness across the country.
In a Facebook post, the First Family said love nurtured in Zambian homes should inspire unity and peace the nation desires, urging citizens to remain committed to the ideals of One Zambia, One Nation, One People.
The message was based on the biblical scripture Colossians 3:14, which stated: “Above all, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
“Zambian families should embrace love, harmony and unity in their homes as a foundation for peace and happiness across the country.
“Love nurtured in Zambian homes should inspire unity and peace the nation desires. Citizens should remain committed to ideals of one Zambia one nation,” the message read.
The First Family’s message of love comes in the wake of numerous calls by church groups, political pressure groups and political parties who have been calling on the nation to embrace love and unity.
Last week, Vice-President W. K. Mutale Nalumango called on Zambians to embrace love and harmony and hard work.
Ms Nalumango said national unity, peace and coexistence were essential to Zambia’s development.
And Second Gentleman Bishop Max Nalumango also called for national unity.
He said this during the Revival Prayer Network’s Grand Thursday Prayers at Oasis of Blessings Assembly in Lusaka and urged the Church to take a leading role in promoting peace.
Bishop Nalumango said the Church and Government should work together to foster peace and national unity.
At the same function, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) chairperson Bishop Joe Imakando urged Zambians to continue praying for the healing and restoration of the country, while Independent Churches of Zambia president David Masupa said Christians should stand in the gap for those in need of healing. Bishop Billy Mfula said bitterness and hatred would not help the nation to heal.
Apostles Council of Zambia president Evans Kapin’ga urged the Church to do more in propagating Christian values and principles
And in Chipata, Catholic Diocese Judicial Vicar Father Evans Miti also urged Zambians to move on and embrace peace, unity and dialogue.
Fr Miti, who is St Eugene’s Sub-Parish priest, said Zambians should now work together, saying the country needed peace and unity to achieve development.
