I travelled to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to market Zambia and in particular the Grow Zambia Agenda, President Hakainde Hichilema has said.
President Hichilema’s clarification puts to an end falsehoods perpetuated by some sections of society that he had travelled to the UAE to receive medical attention.
President Hichilema dispelled the false narrative after addressing journalists at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka shortly after his arrival from a two-day working visit to the UAE.
“Essentially, the trip was all about the Grow Zambia Agenda, but before I go that way, we are delighted to be back home. I am very happy to be here, and I hope you are all well.
“I am okay, as you can see. I didn’t go to a hospital, no. I was working — hard work for the people of Zambia,” President Hichilema said.
President Hichilema also said Zambia had lost a lot of time squabbling over petty issues and whatever they were based on.
He said that by wasting time on trivial matters, the country risked losing focus on what was absolutely necessary to do as a nation, such as pursuing economic growth and the benefits arising from it.
