An Overland Logistics Company official has told the Ndola Magistrates’ Court how a Tanzanian truck driver allegedly stole more than 200 litres of diesel and K13,000 cash, all valued at K25,000, from his employers.
Christian Charles, 42, is facing one count of theft by servant.
On July 19 this year, the accused allegedly stole 264 litres of diesel and K13,000 cash from Overland Logistics.
When the case came up before Magistrate Charles Chanda for continuation of trial, Overland Logistics Company assistant operations manager Farai Muhammad, 37, of Kansenshi Township, testified that around 19:00 hours on the material date, he received a message from the trucking team concerning a truck that had not moved for two days.
“The truck drivers who were assisting said that the truck had no fuel,” he said.
Mr Muhammad told the court that when asked, the accused claimed the vehicle had broken down.
He followed Charles to Mununga where the truck was parked with mechanics.
He said upon arrival, he discovered the truck was in working condition and drove it back to Ndola.
Mr Muhammad also found that the accused was unable to pay toll fees.
He said that documents signed by the accused, known as Toll Fee Logistics, proved that he had been given money for logistics.
Magistrate Chanda adjourned the case to August 21, 2026 for continuation of trial
