BY GODFREY DUBE –
MTN-FAZ premier side Nkwazi has sidelined head coach Albert Mphande for three games and installed his assistant Kenneth Malitoli as the man in charge.
Nkwazi chairperson Robert Makwelele confirmed the development in an interview yesterday saying this ‘executive decision’ follows a string of poor results at the club.
He said the Mphande had only been suspended and not fired with his position set to be reviewed after the three matches.
“Yes I can confirm that we have suspended coach Albert Mphandeforthree games due to poor performance. In the meantime, Kenneth Malitoli will take charge and we expect him to win all three games because we have that capability,” Makwelele said.
Nkwazi has won just once in the last six games and are lying 11th on the league table with 38 points from 28 games.
Malitoli has a relatively achievable task of beating Konkola Blades and Nchanga Rangers at home and Nakambala Leopards away in the next three monitored games and will be happy they will go to Nkana after that test.
Meanwhile Makwelele dismissed media reports that striker Justin Shonga’s has signed for any team saying Nkwazi was still looking at a number of offers on the table.
Media reports suggested that Shonga had signed for Orlando Pirates with Makwelele saying the player was still a Nkwazi player and once any deal was agreed, the nation will be informed.
