SIX foreign teams have confirmed their participation for the 2017 Zambia sevens international rugby tournament set for next month in Lusaka.
RG Sports Management (RGSM) Director Ronnel Armengol, who disclosed this yesterday, said more teams were expected to sign-up for the tournament.
The Zambia sevens international tournament will be played on September 2 and 3at the Leopards Hill Polo Crosse Club.
“We are still signing up teams and so far Zimbabwe A and B, Botswana Aand B, Lesotho and Democratic Republic of Congo have so far confirmedtheir participation.
“As you are aware host Zambia is expected tofeature two teams the national A and B side and we are hoping to receive moreconfirmation within this week,” he said.
He said many countries have failed to host such kind of events becauseof the cost implications it carries of paying for all hotel bills,local transport and food for all the invited teams.
He however, said RGSM was on course for staging a successful event that should bring top class rugby for the fans.
Armengol could not divulge the amount his company would spendduring tournament but promised to do so as soon as everything was in place.
Last month RGSM signed a three-year sponsorship partnership withEconet Media’s pay- TV Service, Kwese Sports to broadcast event live.
