CHIPOLOPOLO Coach Wedson Nyirenda says the Gabon friendly is a chance for him to see if the players have bought into his football philosophy in a real game situation.
The Chipolopolo boys left this morning for a friendly match against Gabon before they play the first African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Mozambique next weekend.
Nyirenda said the friendly against Gabon would help him gauge the fitness levels of the players before they play their first game.
He said the friendly was important to the players as this would help them experience a real game situation and allow them apply the philosophy they have learnt.
“The team is ready for the friendly, this game is important to us because it will help us gauge the players, hope they will apply the philosophy we have been teaching them. We hope they give us a good run as preparation for the Mozambique game,” he said.
He said a few players had picked up minor knocks with the likes of Donashano Malama and Cletus Chama being victims.
“It will be good for us if we record a win as this would motivate the players as we prepare for a crucial game against Mozambique, few players picked up knocks but they are not that serious just hope for the best,” he said.
And physical trainer Milos Buljic said the team was 80 per cent ready stating the friendly would help them be in good form before they face Mozambique.
Buljic said the players had improved since they started learning the philosophy being impacted by the entire technique bench.
He said their many aim was to win the game against Mozambique stating everything else will follow after.
“The players are doing fine, am impressed they are fast learners and have good memory but its difficulty to coach different players playing for different clubs because they learn a different philosophy,” he said.
