Forest 0 Napsa 1
AUSTIN Banda’s sixth minute long range effort helped Napsa Stars beat Forest Rangers to go top of the MTN/FAZ Super League table. Napsa moved to 16 points, one better than second placed Kitwe giants in Power Dynamos and Nkana both 15 points.
Banda shrugged off Forest skipper James Kachinga off the ball before firing a fierce shot which left Jairus Mulenga with no chance in Forest goal.
After conceding, Forest huffed and puffed by Napsa defense marshaled by Alex Mwamba, Freddy Musinde and Laison Thole proved hard to breach and instead it was the visitors who almost doubled the advantage when Aaron Kabwe forced Forest goal minder Mulenga to tip off a curler.
Forest’s first chance came through Webster Mulenga who found himself one on one with Rabson Muchelenganga in the 22nd minute but his shot was blocked.
After the break, the games became cagey and a tactical battle with very few scoring chances being created. Stuttering Forest are ninth on the log with 12 points.
Nakonde 1-3 Nkana
NKANA collected maximum points away to Real Nakonde thanks to goals by Walter Bwalya, Dieugo Apanane and Simon Bwalya writes NDINAWE SIMPELWE.
Quick goals in the first 10 minutes saw Apanane and Walter open the scores and Simon added a third midway the second before Bright Kapuma scored a consolation later on in the game.
The win was enough for Nkana to share second position on 15 points but positions might change depending on today’s result between Zesco United and Zanaco who both have 14 points.
Real Nakonde remained on seven points and dropped in the relegation zone.
Wanderers 0-0 Power
TEN man Power Dynamos missed the chance to go top of the table after forcing a scoreless draw at Mufulira Wanderers but was enough to remain on second position.
Despite having defender Billy Mutale sent off in the first half for an off the ball incident, Power had the chance to collect maximum points but Jimmy Ndhlovu wasted a golden opportunity after being put through by Fwayo Tembo.
Power who struggled in the first half put up a spirited fight in the second half to hold on and force which saw Wanderers move to five points but still rooted at the bottom of the table.
Buffaloes 3-1 City
CITY of Lusaka woes continued as they suffered another heavy defeat to Green Buffaloes at Edwin Imboela Stadium reports ADRIAN MWANZA .
Buffaloes Brian Mwila scored 10 minutes into the gamebut City restored parity in the dying minutes of
the first half after Dominic Mulenshi poked home to go to the break level.
However Buffaloes changed their tactics as they introduced Lottie Phiri who caused problems and helped his side restore their lead in the 81st minute when he found Jack Chirwa to head home.
Buffaloes were not done, Mwila dribbled a horde of defenders on the left flank to complete his brace and Buffaloes third.
Buffaloes are eighth with 12 points while City are 16th with seven.
Nakambala 0-0 Warriors
NAKAMBALA Leopards played to a scoreless draw at home against fellow strugglers Kabwe Warriors to share a point apiece writes GODFREY DUBE .
Nakambala are sited on the 18th position on seven point one better than warriors who are now on six points. The big chance of the game fell to Siloni Jere in the 42nd minute when he rounded the goalie but put it wide to sum up the afternoon.
Eslewhere in Chililabombwe, Konkola Blades failed to bounce back from Wednesday’s 5-0 bashing at
the hands of Power Dynamos when they were held to a 0-0 score at home by Lusaka Dynamos.
