PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu is delighted by Zambia Under-20’s “remarkable fairy tale” at the Korea Republic World Cup championship following the team’s come from behind 4-2 win against Iran.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda, President Lungu once again commended the team for showing unity of purpose and team spirit.
“As I said last Sunday when the Junior Chipolopolo defeated Portugal in the opening match, team spirit and singleness of purpose can surmount any challenges we face as a nation. The team’s flawless progression now seems to be a remarkable fairy tale,” President Lungu said.

Zambia came from 2-0 down to beat Iran 4-2 and progress to the next round of the competition as group winners after the other match between Portugal and Costa Rica ended in a 1-1 draw.
Zambia’s next group match will be against Costa Rica on Saturday.
President Lungu further said the team continued to be an example when a nation is focused and united positive results could be achieved.
He also heaped praise on the technical bench as well as FAZ president Andrew Kamanga and his administration.
“The gallant boys again have shown us another great example that, when we are united and focused, we can always be a winning nation. I congratulate the team whole-heartedly and pledge my own and government support to their continued campaign. I have no doubt, this team is about to make history,” the President said.
