GOVERNMENT has said plans are underway for Chipata City to have an ultra modern stadium.
Sports Minister Moses Mawere said in Chipata that Government would enter into Public Private Partnership (PPP) in order for the advanced stadium to be constructed.
Mawere said the PPP arrangement was to promote sport as it was regarded world over as a number one business.
The Minister said under the PPP, interested persons would invest in the sport infrastructure.
“Sport is regarded as big business world over and because of that, we want to engage PPP in the construction of the stadium here in Chipata,” he said.
Mawere said Government would provide land for the construction of the sporting facility adding that a PPP partnership would be part of a win, win situation in the construction of sport facilities in the country.
He said stadium and other sport facilities have become expensive because they were big businesses and urged the private sector to come in the construction of sporting facilities.
