MUFULIRA Kankoyo Member of Parliament Brian Mushimba has pledged increased investment in skills training for the youths and women in in his constituency to fight unemployment.
MrMushimba said he had planned to turn his constituency into an industry-based skill center for youths and women.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, the Parliamentarian said he had intentions to set up skills and recreation centres in Mufulirato help create employment and enhance poverty reduction among youths and women in his constituency.
“On the skills and recreationcentres, I want them to be set up in three wards; Kankoyocentral,Chibolya and Butondoward,’’he said.
Mr Mushimba who is also Minister of Transport and Communication said he would engage the mines in the district encourage them provide a market for products coming out of the training centres.
He said at least 50 percent of Kankoyo youths and women would have acquired some skills skill by 2021.
“Skills development has continued to play a significant role in the creation of employment and reduction of poverty, and it is one of the key interventions being pursued by Government in addressing the challenges of youth unemployment and improving the social economic wellbeing of citizens especially the youth,” he said.
