State to boost domestic tourism

MINISTER of Tourism and Arts Charles Banda says the Government will continue undertaking projects to improve domestic tourism.
Mr Banda said among other activities being undertaken in the ministry was the developing of the domestic tourism in order to grow the tourism sector.
He noted that the importance of domestic tourism cannot be over emphasized as it cushions the sector against fluctuations in international demand.
Mr Banda said economic benefits of a strong domestic market could result in improved services and product quality which ultimately increased confidence levels of international tourists.
He said Government was working with the tourism private sector to facilitate initiatives that would woo domestic tourists to Zambia.
Mr Banda explained that working with the private sector will insure that initiatives that have been planned to boost the sector are completed.
Her said Government’s initiative partnering with the private sector would result in achieving sustainable goals to propel domestic tourism to fly higher heights.
Mr Banda said with full engagement of the private entity ,the country would develop and attain sustainable goals.
“It is the ministry’s hope that Zambians entrepreneurs and tourists will take advantage of the country’s tourism offering to use it for wealth creation and leisure respectively,” he said.
