MTN-FAZ premier side Napsa Stars has released 17 players including forward Mathews Macha.
This, according to the club, is meant to prepare the side for a successful 2017 football season.
The 17 have basically been let go by the pensioners for under-performing during the 2016 season.
Macha has only spent one season with Napsa which he joined after being released by league champions Zanaco.
According to information obtained by the Times, the player’s services together with that of 16 other players will not be needed by the club as they prepare for the next coming season.
Some other notable players dropped are Brian Lubaba, Emmanuel Phiri, Davie Kalandanya, Henry Banda and Noel Phiri.
“The club needs to reinforce the team so there are players who have also been bought but will be announced later on.
“These players were not used much so it was better to just let go of them,” the source said.
Napsa, who are coached by Tenant Chilumba, finished 10th last season with 42 points in a season that they had a bad start.
