INJURED under-20 midfielder Changwe Kalale has congratulated his colleagues for lifting the COSAFA Under -20 Cup for a historic 11th time.
Changwe got injured with other players on a Zesco United bus which was involved in an accident in December 2014.
He said that he was delighted to watch his colleagues beat arch rivals South Africa to bag the cup for yet another time.
Changwe, who is recuperating from his parents’ home in Chambishi, was impressed with the type of play and discipline the team exhibited throughout the tournament.
“I would like to congratulate my friends for putting up a good display of football through out the tournament and eventually win the cup,” said Changwe.
He further said the under -17 team , who lost to hosts Angola in the semi-finals on post match penalties at the African Union Sports Council Region Five Games, played well except luck was not on their side.
“The under 17 squad also played well, it was just that luck was not on their side, otherwise they played very well,” he said.
The Zambia under-20 faced their regional rivals and hosts South Africa in the COSAFA final to be crowned Southern Africa junior football champions.
At that tournament the Zambian team won all games with a 5-1 bashing of Zimbabwe 3-0 win over Malawi to book a place in the semis.
They played a formality game in which they beat Mozambique 2-0 win and added to that a vital 2-1 win over Congo DR in the semi-final.
The Zambia under-17 played at the AUSC Region Five Games alongside Zimbabwe, Swaziland and hosts Angola.
