A TWENTY -SIX-year-old woman of Ndola has beaten up her 23-year-old brother to death and fled her home for fear of being arrested.
Copperbelt Commissioner of police Charity Katanga who confirmed the incident said Margaret Banda of Chipulukusu township beat up her brother Julius Banda who later died.
The cause of the incident is not clear.
Ms Katanga said police officers have since launched a manhunt for the woman.
Ms Katanga said the stick was alleged to have been used in the act but neighbours to the family alleged that a pick was used to beat the brother who sustained injuries on the hand and leg.
The victim was rushed to Ndola Central hospital where he later died.
She said the incident happened last week but that the victim died on Tuesday this week.
Ms Katanga said the family members reported the matter to the police after the brother died at NCH.
“We have a report in which Margaret Banda of house number 41 habitat area in Chipulukusu beat up his brother who sustained body injuries and later died at NCH. Police are still searching for her as she is on the run,” she said.
She said the body of the deceased was lying at Ndola Central Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
