THE State has applied to revoke Highvie Hamududu as a surety to United Party for National Development (UPND) vice-president Geoffrey Mwamba.
Mr Hamududu had qualified to be one of Mwamba’s sureties in a matter where he is charged with threatening violence by virtue of being a public officer, but could no longer continue because he is not a Member of Parliament (MP) which was one of the conditions.
The UPND did not adopt him to re-contest his Bweengwa seat in Southern Province in the last general elections.
Magistrate Thandose Chabala then granted the application yesterday when the matter came up for mention.
And in response, Mwamba commonly known as GBM said through his lawyer Martha Mulenje from Martha Mushipe and associates that he would make arrangements to have Mr Hamududu replaced.
Mwamba has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He is charged with one count of proposing violence after he allegedly uttered words on March 2, 2016 to the effect that it would be desirable to cause death or cause injury to President Edgar Lungu.
Mwamba has been granted a K10, 000 cash bail with two working sureties which should apply to the one who would be engaged.
Trial would commence on January 9, 2017.
