KABWE United Academy secretary Maxmillian Chanda has reported Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) for alleged corrupt activities.
Chanda, who was recently banned by FAZ and served out his three-month suspension, yesterday released documents claiming Kamanga had engaged in corrupt activities since being ushered into office.
He brought out three issues where he accused Kamanga of first ordering FAZ not to report Alex Munasha to the ACC for falsifying documents, ordering the treasurer to pay bills incurred before he became president, and buying air tickets for friends using FAZ money.
Kamanga said in reaction to the accusations that he was ready to face the ACC once summoned, adding that he would wait for investigations.
During a Press briefing yesterday, Chanda failed to produce evidence of all the accusations, claiming he had specific information from insiders.
In the first accusation, Chanda claims the FAZ president instructed the association’s disciplinary committee not to report Munasha, whose candidature for the position of treasurer at the last FAZ elective neeting was annulled after allegedly falsifying documents.
In the second matter, he claims Kamanga asked association treasurer Rix Mweemba to put a K24, 552 bill incurred by the president and his campaign team at Ndola’s Savoy Hotel on the FAZ account.
Chanda claims the FAZ insiders told him the bill was incurred on March 24, this year, and that the bill was for food, beverages and lodging and named some of the beneficiaries as James Mpooma and Zebron Nkhoma.
He claimed that Mweemba wrote to Kamanga asking him to reimburse the association, but the FAZ chief allegedly  refused.
Surprisingly, the letter he attached indicates the bills in question were incurred ahead of the Zambia versus Congo game which came when Kamanga was already the FAZ boss.
Additionally, Mweemba’s letter to the FAZ president was seeking advice on how to proceed after he discovered that FAZ erroneously paid a bill it did not incur.
Chanda in the third count claims that Kamanga bought two air tickets to Congo Brazzaville for his friends — former Nkwazi chairperson and Zambia Police director of sports Adrian Kashala and Gift Chaipa of Napsa Stars using FAZ money.
When asked for evidence on these documents, Chanda said he was yet to collect them from his insiders at FAZ and that most of the issues were verbally communicated to him.
“As a citizen and member of the football fraternity, I request the commission to expeditiously investigate these matters so that those found wanting are brought to book and ultimately deter possible offenders,” Chanda said.
DEC spokesperson Theresa Katongo confirmed that the commission had received a complaint from Chanda, but said the matter was referred to the ACC which is mandated to deal with such matters.
When contacted, ACC spokesperson Timothy Moono declined to comment and referred queries to the corporate affairs department who also could not confirm.
And Kamanga said he was ready for the investigations.
“This is coming from someone who was suspended by FAZ so I am not that shocked. But I shall not comment much on this issue but I will just wait for relevant authorities to contact me if investigations are carried out. I am here and available for questioning,” he said.
