LOSING United Party for National Development (UPND) Nalolo parliamentary candidate Belinda Lweendo has accused Nalolo independent Member of Parliament (MP) George Imbuwa of using UPND symbols during the August 2016 general elections.
Ms Lweendo has petitioned the election of Mr Imbuwa as Nalolo independent MP.
She has asked Livingstone High Court Judge Matthews  Zulu to declare the election of Mr Imbuwa as null and void.
She also included the losing PF candidate Enock Mundia and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) as second and third respondents respectively.
Ms Lweendo is being represented by Milimo Munansangu of AMC legal Practitioners while Mr Imbuwa is being represented by Godfrey Locha of Mweemba and Company.
Testifying before  the Livingstone High Court, Ms Lweendo said Mr Imbuwa disadvantaged her by using the UPND symbol which misled voters in the constituency.
She also accused Mr Imbuwa of distributing money and donating to churches and schools in the constituency.
Another witness Nyambe Kahiwala said Mr Imbuwa sent K350 to him as transport money for him to travel to Lusaka using Zoona money transfer facility.
Mr Kahiwala, who is UPND Kambayi Ward chairperson, said he was given K1,000 as an inducement by Mr Imbuwa so that he could convince people to vote for the independent candidate who was allegedly using UPND symbols.
He said during a campaign meeting, Mr Imbuwa alleged that Ms Lweendo was not a good person as she had chased her own father before he died.
He said Mr Imbuwa alleged that Ms Lweendo chased her father because she wanted to use the house for personal gain.
