A MAN of Mbabala in Choma yesterday committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree.
The man has been identified as Fine Simoonga who was found dead with a rope tied around his neck.
Southern Province Police chief Godwin Phiri confirmed the development yesterday.
Mr Phiri said officers visited the scene of crime and the body was taken to Choma General Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, in Namwala the Police apprehended nine more people in Maala area who were suspected to have been behind the burning of houses for the villagers in the area during the riots.
He said the province was now quiet and did not experience any incidents of crime related to politics.
“For the past 24 hours security situation has been encouraging as no significant incidents politically or criminal were recorded. In the continued effort to calm the violent situation in Maala of Namwala District, last night nine suspects involved in the burning of houses have been apprehended,” he said.
