OG Electricals yesterday donated K7, 500 to the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) towards hosting of the junior tournament slated for September 10 at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka.
Company managing director Waseem Haroon said the donation will see K4, 500 given in form of trophies and medals for the various winners while the rest will be given in cash.
He expressed hope that the contribution will help ZBF host the tournament aimed at developing the sport at the grassroots.
“The K4,500 will go towards the purchase of trophies for both winners and runners up including medals and will also cater for other logistics needed to successfully host the tournament at OYDC,” he said.
ZBF secretary general Mweemba Kaona commended OG Electricals for the sponsorship and urged other stakeholders to come on board and assist the growth of the sport.
“I would like to urge OG to continue assisting in the development of various sports fraternities in the country,” he said.
Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) board member Haroon Ghumra expressed happiness that entities like OG were committed to helping the improvement of basketball in the country.
“OG should be commended for pumping in K7,500 towards the successful hosting of this event aimed at improving sports in the country,” he said.
