FIRST Lady Esther Lungu has called on the people in the country to be prayerful, remain peaceful and seek God’s guidance in whatever they do.
Ms Lungu also thanked churches in the country for remembering the first family and the nation as a whole.
She was speaking when she attended a fully packed Sunday service at Munali Wesleyan church in Lusaka yesterday.
Mrs Lungu said it was cardinal for everyone to apply themselves to the peace the country enjoys, adding that the church in the country was praying for peace in the country because Zambia was a Christian nation.
“You know as a Christian nation, we take it that every church in Zambia is praying for peace in the country and it is cardinal that everyone applies themselves to the peace we have enjoyed for the past 50
years,” she said.
Munali Wesleyan church bishop, Alfred Kalembo said it was very important that the call for peace was adhered to as a country and must not be taken for granted.
Bishop Kalembo said peace was a gift God gave to Zambia and that it ought to be treasured and allowed to continue.
“As a country we need to adhere to the call for peace because it is a gift God gave us,” he said.
He further urged all well meaning Zambians to be responsible and ensure that Zambia remains a beacon of peace.
