ZAMBIAN folk musician, Mumba Yachi has called on the Agricultural and Commercial Show Society of Zambia (ACSZ) to replace Koffi Olomide with a Zambian artiste.
Mumba says that if given a chance he could put up a spledid show.
He says it is sad that Zambians give more respect and offer support to international acts than the locals.
He says that those international acts have worked hard to be where they are and their countries have greatly supported them.
“I heard some rumours that the show society will replace Kofi with Werrason. Well, yes with no doubt the man is a phenomenal; his band “Maison Mere” and can really entertain the show goers. But my point is, gone are the days where we used to think Zambian musicians can’t perform live we can do it as well.
And JAJAH COULIBALY also reports that celebrated Zambian hip-hop artiste Mwila Musonda alias Slap Dee says it is rubbish and an insult to the local entertainment industry for the ACSZ to keep bringing foreign artistes to perform.
The hip-hop king has reminded the show organisers to consider investing in the locals and not allow colossal sums of money be paid to foreign artistes.
“Koffi is not coming, why invite Werrasson when we have a number of powerful artistes who can entertain the showgoers,” he said.
He has challenged the show society of Zambia to name a Zambian artiste who goes to perform in Congo at such huge events.
“Zambian organisers must learn to respect what is theirs, let them give us a name of any Zambian artiste who performs at big events in Congo, the organisers empower their own,” he lamented.
Mwila says it is sad to learn that a section of Zambians was taking part in the bringing down of their own artistes.
