THE Football Association of Zambia will today continue interviewing the shortlisted candidates for the vacant Chipolopolo coaching job with former South African coach Gordon Igesund and Raoul Savoy set to appear before the interviewing panel.
FAZ earlier this week interviewed their first of the five candidates, Frenchman Sebastien Desabre at Football House.
The association has kept the interviewing process a secret and has not disclosed the details of how the interviews will be conducted.
But sources have disclosed that Igesund and Savoy are part of the five names shortlisted by FAZ and will be interviewed before picking the right candidate.
The source without giving full details said interviews were expected to continue today with one of the two candidates, Savoy or Igesund expected to be interviewed.
The interviews are expected to start at 10:00 hours at the Football House though Desabre was made to wait for close to three hours before facing the interviewing panel.
“The interview is on tomorrow (today). The target still remains that we conclude the interviews in good time before the kick off of the World Cup qualifiers. The coach should be arriving today (yesterday), I think you will have more details on Saturday,” the source said.
The source said the association wanted to keep the process a secret until everything was concluded.
“The president (Andrew Kamanga) is very careful on this issue, he doesn’t want to jeopardise the process because most of the candidates are still under contract with other teams,” the source said.
Chipolopolo have had no full time coach since Herve Renard stepped down in 2013 and FAZ used Patrice Beaumelle, Honor Janza and now George Lwandamina all in the interim.
The association received more than 20 applications but shortlisted only five who include Desabre, Igsund and Savoy while the other two are yet to be known.
