FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) spokesperson Erick Mwanza has confirmed that he is considering ditching Football House for a Media Officer position with the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).
Speaking on Radio Christian Voice Backpage sports programme yesterday, Mwanza confirmed that the offer from CAF was on the table and was seriously considering it.
Mwanza, however, said he had not yet come up with a decision on whether to take up the post or continue with his current job at Football House.
He also stated that the CAF secretariat had for some time now been asking for him to cross to Cairo.
And Mwanza denied media reports that his intended move to join CAF was because of a collapsed working relationship with FAZ general secretary George Kasengele.
“The truth is that CAF have offered me a job as media officer but I have not made a decision. I am seriously considering it but there are a few things that have to be considered before I make a decision,” he said.
He admitted there were some ‘fireworks’ at FAZ last week which resulted in some sections of the media highlighting the near- punch up between technical director Honour Janza and Kasengele following what he termed differences of opinion on administrative issues.
Mwanza down played the tiff that occurred at Football House last week saying it was just a difference in opinion. He said such occurrences were common at every work place where people differ but the end of the day matters are resolved.
It is believed that Mwanza is opting to join CAF while Janza is considering taking up the Botswana coaching job following differences with Kasengele.
FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya was at the weekend in the country to sort out the differences among his staff.
