MIRACLE Life Family Church has been crowned champion of the One Zambia Pro Sports Hub (OZPSH) Lusaka weekend social league championship.
The league, which has so far attracted 10 clubs, has been running since March 13.
OZPSH chairperson Eugene Chandi said in an interview that they are working on expanding the social league to 22 teams in the coming season that kicks off in September.
Chandi said the aim of the social league is to give a platform to footballers that have no opportunity to play professional football.
“OZPSH have introduced a social league for footballers that are not professionals to be part of a league. So far we have 10 teams and Miracle Life Family Church are champions of the league that comes to an end this month,” Chandi said.
Chandi added that with the beginning of the expanded league, OZPSH will also introduce a Division-One league.
“When the next season kicks off in September, we want the social league to be more interesting as we will introduce Division-One and also have teams being promoted and relegated,” he said.
He added that the social league has also attracted professional footballers like 2012 Africa Cup winning captain Christopher Katongo and a number of players from the Zambia under-17 and under-20 national teams.
