NAMIBIAN President Hage Geingob is expected to grace this year’s agricultural and commercial show, the Agricultural and Commercial Society of Zambia (ACSZ) has said.
And 16 countries have confirmed participation at the 90th Agricultural and Commercial Show.
The show will take place from July 27 to August 1, 2016 under the theme: Managing environment for growth”.
ACSZ president Ben Shoko said the show would be officially opened on July 30, 2016 with Dr Geingob as guest of honour.
Mr Shoko said at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday that a good number of foreign exhibitors were expected at this year’s show saying that 16 countries had so far confirmed participation.
Mr Shoko said the countries were Egypt, Ghana, Italy, Pakistan, South Africa, Botswana, China, Namibia, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Malawi, Hong Kong, Brazil, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
“We are therefore pleased to celebrate 90 years of excellent exhibitors in the agriculture and commercial products and services as exposure for our exhibitors.
“We expect an increased number of local exhibitors going by the number of confirmations received so far, all sectors are represented,” he said.
Mr Shoko said during the show, security would be provided by the Zambia Police in conjunction with private security companies hired by the society as well as its own security personnel.
He said the traffic section of the Zambia police in conjunction with the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RATSA) would be on hand to control the flow of traffic.
Mr Shoko said Malawian musician Skeffa Chimoto, Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) Rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide would be performing at the show and complimented by 12 local musical groups among other entertainment activities.
The entry charges for the public have been pegged at K25 per day with the adult society membership badge going at K100 per person while K45 is for junior show members between 6 and 17 years old.
