ALERT police officers on the Copperbelt have apprehended two Chinese , a Zimbabwean and two Zambians for being in possession of 20 bags of suspected copper concentrates.
The four were apprehended in Kitwe following a tip-off from members of the public.
The bags were weighing 33,900 kilogrammes.
Copperbelt Police chief Charity Katanga said the suspects were using a foreign truck registration number HCV 452MP-HCV430MP-T.
Ms Katanga identified the suspects as Xig Zhzxin aged 24,Yo Xiongping, 26 both of Chingola, Herbet Toto a Zimbabwean, Luckson Chabala, 32 and Humphrey Mbulo of Kitwe’s Chimwemwe Township .
She said the suspects were found with the contraband without proper documentation.
“I can confirm that we are investigating a case in which some foreign nationals and Zambians were found with copper concentrates,” she said.
