By CHILA NAMAIKO  in Mbala –
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has said he is the right person that Zambians should vote for in the August 11 general elections because he has proved to be hard working by delivering unprecedented development countrywide.
Mr Lungu has since promised continued implementation of the Patriotic Front (PF)’s pro-poor policies as a way of uplifting the welfare of all citizens regardless of their political affiliation.
The President said there was no need to change the presidency because he had the blue-print for national development that would roll out more infrastructure to support investment and create employment for citizens.
“I have demonstrated that I am a hard working President. I have been tried and tested. I am, therefore, the right person to be voted for. I have delivered development and I am still delivering,” he said.
Mr Lungu, who was speaking yesterday when he addressed a huge rally at Lucheche Secondary School grounds in Mbala in Northern Province, urged Zambians not to be derailed by empty promises from some opposition politicians.
The Head of State said he would remain firm and committed to ensuring that massive development was delivered countrywide because he had a heart to uplift the lives of all citizens.
He appealed to the people of Mbala Central Constituency to turn out in huge numbers and vote for him and PF candidate Mwalimu Simfukwe in the forthcoming elections.
President Lungu said Mr Simfukwe would work in line with the aspirations of the ruling party to bring development in accordance with people’s desire.
In his address to the jubilant crowd, Mr Simfukwe assured the residents that he would fulfil his campaign promises centred on development.
Former vice-president Enoch Kavindele urged Zambians to vote for Mr Lungu, saying he was a caring leader and that people should not always change Government each time there was an election.
Former Kabwe Central parliamentarian Austin Chewe and Christian Democratic Party leader Dan Pule said Mr Lungu should be retained in power.
Earlier when he arrived at the Zambia Air Force Samora Machel Airport, President Lungu urged the people of Northern Province not to be influenced by power-hungry opposition politicians to engage in political violence.
Mr Lungu, who praised the residents for being peaceful and conducting issue-based campaigns, said violence should not be tolerated.
In Mpulungu, the President, who addressed another huge rally at Mzabwera grounds, called on the residents to vote for Freedom Sikazwe as PF parliamentarian and assured that he would continue to address the challenges that the local people were faced with.
