By PASSY HAACHIZO –
A TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD man of Kabwe’s New Kasanda police camp has been dragged to court for allegedly assaulting his parents.
This is in a case in which Stanley Malimamwa is appearing before Kabwe magistrate Kaizer Tembo with two charges of assault.
Malimamwa, who is in police custody, could, however, not appear before court yesterday as there was no transport to take him to court.
State prosecutor Emmanuel Chiwaya informed the court that there was a challenge with transport and, therefore, the suspect could not be taken to court.
“The matter was supposed to come up for commencement of trial but due to transport challenges, we cannot proceed with the case today and we are seeking for an adjournment to July 18,” Mr Chiwaya said.
Particulars of the offence were that on June 24, this year, Malimamwa assaulted his father Stanley Malimamwa Senior, occasioning him actual bodily harm.
In count two, Malimamwa on June 24, this year, in Kabwe assaulted his mother, Maselina Malimamwa.
The State has called witnesses in the matter who were warned to ensure they appear before court on the set date.
Mr Tembo granted the application and adjourned the matter to July 18 for commencement of trial.
