FAZ-MTN premier side Red Arrows are eyeing former international forward Ronald ‘Sate-Sate’ Kampamba to help sort out their scoring problems ahead of the second round of the MTN-FAZ league.
Sources revealed to the Times on Monday that Arrows are also targeting Power Dynamos and Mufulira Wanderers strikers Martin Phiri and Mike Katiba respectively.
The sources said Arrows are in talks with the players and were yet to contact their clubs to formalise the process.
Kampamba, a former Nkana player is already training with the Kitwe side though no deal has been clinched yet.
“Arrows are eyeing Sate Sate, Martin and Mike to beef up their squad, negotiations with the players are ongoing. For Martin, he was with Arrows before and has expressed interest to rejoin, they just need to engage his club,” the sources said.
But red Arrows media liaison officer Michael Kalembwe said Red Arrows was working on beefing up the team but declined to give out the names.
Kalembwe said the club was scheduled to have a meeting and will confirm the players that will be joining the club.
“We are looking at beefing up our striking force, we are scheduled to have a meeting over player transfers and will confirm at a later stage,” Kalembwe said.
Arrows are currently on 11th position with 20 points managing four wins, eight draws and five loses.
But former Nkana and Zambia defender Mordon Malitoli says while Kampamba was welcome back at Nkana, the striker must prove his worth again to get a starting place.
Malitoli said he was hopeful the 2013 and 2014 MTN/FAZ Super League golden boot winner could reclaim his form at Nkana after his modest stint in Egypt and Belgium.
“It is good  he is gets back at his club Nkana. He must work hard and continue where he left from. He must prove to the people that he has remained a good player even though he did not have a successful outing in Egypt and Belgium.
“He must show people that it is injuries that made him not to excel in Egypt and Belgium,” Malitoli said.
Kampamba spent his first six months at Wadi Degla following his transfer in January 2015 before moving on loan to Belgium second division club Lierse where he played just two league games in the 2015/2016 season.
The Chipolopolo striker was part of Nkana’s week-long, mid-season training camp in Lusaka that ended on Sunday and is expected to make his local return this weekend when they host Nkwazi in a Week 18 fixture in Kitwe.
