Metro FM’s DJ Nyuri has said that Zambian artistes should come together and put up strict measures that will stop people from downloading music for free.
Nyuri says a number of artistes complain about the financial stress they face in trying to come up with money to create great music and videos.
DJ Nyuri explains that currently, people who support Zambian music castigate local artistes when they do not produce great music videos or
when they fail to deliver according to expectations.
He said some people look down on Zambian artistes because they cannot even feature international artistes.
“These artistes cannot feature international acts without money and they cannot dress up as expected if money isn’t provided.
“Further, they can’t give their fans good music videos without money and very few artistes have shows every weekend except for the likes of Chef 187, Slap Dee, Mampi, Macky II, to mention but a few,” DJ Nyuri says.
He urged Zambians to sacrifice just a K10 or less to buy a song.
“The money in question can go a long way in supporting our artistes.
Suppose 40 thousand people download the song, meaning more videos on
big channels, more international features and a better Zambian music
industry,” he says.
He called on people to support local musicians to enable them improve
and compete on the internationals music scene.
