THE Anti Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has appealed to farmers in the country to set aside time to vote during the forthcomimg elections.
Copperbelt AVAP Coordinator Poster Jumbe said he was aware that the Food Reserve Agency FRA would be buying maize at the time when the country would be holding elections but that it would be important for the farmers to consider participating in the polls for them to choose the leader they wanted to lead them.
Speaking in an interview yesterday Mr Jumbe explained that he was aware that the agency may commence buying maize once the moisture content reached acceptable levels and this is the time when the elections would be held, adding that it was important for farmers to vote.
He said that AVAP was of the view that the media should continue to play the role of sensitising the public including farmers for them to make informed decisions.
He appealed to Zambians to take the polls seriously and that it was important that Zambians choose their leaders through the ballot.
He also advised political parties to continue preaching peace ahead of polls and to avoid preaching hatred during their campaigns.
He urged political parties to continue selling their manifestos instead of insulting each other.
Meanwhile, Mr Jumbe said he was happy that some political parties had started educating their members on the Referendum.
