NEWLY promoted MTN-FAZ Premier League side, Green Eagles have recalled striker Spencer Sautu and defender Tindi Mwanza to strengthen the team ahead of the 2014 season.
Eagles, who open their campaign with a home match against champions Nkana in Choma, have recalled Sautu and Mwanza, who had spells at Forest Rangers and Red Arrows last season.
Coach Justin Chinama said in Ndola yesterday that his side was shaping up well and that the recalled players will help boost the club ahead of the fixture against Nkana.
Chinama, whose side is on a pre-season tour on the Copperbelt, said it was important for Eagles to start the season with a win over Nkana on March 15, as that would boost confidence in the team.
“My players are shaping up well in training, and I can see that the boys are eager to face the challenge of playing in the league. We are reparing hard and we are ready to face any opponents,” he said.
Chinama further said he would leave no stone unturned in preparing his team before the start of the league.
He said he did not worry about other teams adding that his target was to be collecting maximum points regardless of the pedigree of opponents his team will face.
“I am happy Sautu and Mwanza are back to boost our team’s chances of remaining in the league next season and we feel they will be key to our team’s success. All the players who won us promotions have been maintained in the team,” he said.
Meanwhile, Eagles who are on a pre-season tour of the Copperbelt recorded victories over two FAZ Division One north sides Ndola United and Kitwe United whom they beat 2-0 and 2-1 respectively.
Eagles are today expected to face Forest, a side that was last season relegated from the elite league, at Dola Hill Stadium in Ndola.
