A FIFTY-SIX-YEAR-Old woman of Minambe Township in Mufulira District has been murdered by unknown people in unexplained circumstances.
Copperbelt Province Police chief Charity Katanga who confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday said the woman identifiued as Agness Jeke who sustained head injuries and a swollen body is believed to have met her fate around 21:00 hours.
Ms Katanga explained that the deceased was last seen with a suspected mental patient of the same area and that the body was discovered around 16:00 hours opposite Minambe market.
She said Ms Jeke had injuries on the head and swollen body adding that the body was taken to Ronald Ross hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
She said no arrests were made but investigations had been instituted.
Meanwhile Police in Chavuma District of North Western Province are holding Zampost post master and a security guard to assist with investigations following the theft of K157,000 cash by armed bandits last week
In the early hours of Friday morning two suspected armed bandits in Chavuma briefly abducted the post master from his home and later took him to his office and stole the money after firing several gunshots in the air.
The incident which happened around 02:00 hours happened after the two suspects armed with unknown types of firearms entered the post master’s house and ordered that they be taken to the his office where they got away with K157,000.
North Western Province Police chief Lackson Sakala who confirmed the development said the attackers also shot in the air to scare the victim from raising alarm.
Mr Sakala explained that police were holding the post master and the security guard to assist with investigations but swwaid no recovery of money and arrest has been made.
