UNIP confident ahead of polls

UNIP has urged the public to vote for the party in the upcoming 2016 general elections as it is a capable party with a history of delivering it’s promises.
UNIP presidential aspiring candidate Tilyenji Kaunda said his party delivered what it had promised to the people of Zambia when it was in power.
Mr Kaunda was speaking on Friday during the party’s campaign in Matero constituency of Lusaka.
Mr Kaunda said if brought back into power,  the party was capable of changing the face of the country by empowering Zambians economically.
“When you stand in that booth on 11 August,  vote wisely this is about you, if you make another mistake, I can assure you my words are prophetic, the suffering we are seeing today will be multiplied. But if you vote for UNIP we always tell the truth, since 1959 whatever we have promised we have delivered,” he said.
Mr Kaunda said in its economic aspect UNIP would ensure that nine out of ten companies would be owned by Zambians so that employment could be created with an increased forex  inflows.
Mr Kaunda said the party once voted in power would improve the education system by making education free from primary to tertiary so that every Zambian could be educated.
Matero constituency aspiring parliamentary candidate Philimone Lwabila said if people voted for him and UNIP, the face of Matero would be changed for the better.
Mr Lwabila said he would make sure he provides good water and sanitation services for the people of Matero.
The campaign was attended by hundreds of UNIP supporters who said they wanted an improvement in the education sector, enhanced economic activities for the women and a proper water and sewerage system.
