PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Kabushi aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) Bowman Lusambo has pledged to prioritise youth and women empowerment in the Constituency once elected into public office.Mr Lusambo said in an interview yesterday that if given an opportunity to serve as area MP, he would ensure that he addresses the issue of high unemployment levels amongst the youth.
Mr Lusambo said once elected as MP he would engage stakeholders to ensure that youths from the constituency are considered for employment opportunities and that, the introduction of various empowerment projects would help reduce the vices currently prevailing in the Constituency.
“We have a challenge of unemployment; I will engage stakeholders to ensure that youths from Kabushi are considered for employment. We also want to come up with projects to give youths and women skills to help reduce vices such as, beer drinking and illicit sex which is a big problem. My coming in is to sweep Kabushi clean so that people can lead decent lives,” he said.
Mr Lusambo said the lack of health facilities was another challenge in Kabushi and would through the help of Government, construct a mini hospital.
He said that among other challenges the constituency has been faced with was poor sanitation, a problem he had already started addressing through the digging of boreholes from 2014.
Mr Lusambo bemoaned the poor sanitary conditions and use of pit latrines amongst residents.
“As a team and Government, we will ensure that we work on the water and sewer system. As a family we have already started implementing projects such as the putting up of boreholes with the help of the church and community,’’ Mr Lusambo said.
