EMBARRASSED by the 6-0 bashing at the hands of league leaders Zanaco, Mufulira Blackpool yesterday admitted they are in serious trouble and will need to beef up in the mid-season break.
Blackpool are winless this year and are at the bottom of the table with coach Matthews Njovu saying it was time to act to save the team.
“We have been exposed, now we have to look at the entire team and working on beefing up ahead of the second round,” Njovu said.
His Zanaco counterpart Numba Mumamba was ecstatic in victory saying he will continue to work hard in order to consolidate the top slot on the summit of the MTN-FAZ table.
He said Blackpool played well but what made a difference was his team’s ability to convert chances into goals adding “This 6-0 is a very good result, we wanted to maximise on our goal aggregate, we shall work hard to stay on top of the table until the end of the season.”
And Godfrey Dube reports from Independence stadium that Green Buffaloes coach Bilton Musonda believes the win over Nkwazi was a a relief especially after the club went through a bad patch.
Speaking after bashing Nkwazi 2-0, Musonda said that the win was a motivation to the team and later on dedicated the win to skipper Christopher Katongo for raising the team spirit.
“It’s a good performance to our side, more especially to Chris who has been a motivation to the guys, his goal motivated and leadership kept pushing the team forward,” he said.
And Nkwazi Assistant coach Dennis Mankinka was left happy with team performance despite the defeat which he attributed to the failure to turn chances into goals.
“We played well but unfortunately, we failed to convert a number of chances into goals, we have to work on the finishing. The referee robbed us of the game, we had two clear penalties, it’s the referee who has won the game, not Buffaloes,” he said.
