GOVERNMENT has refuted claims that some schools in Lusaka have rejected the new curriculum text books that were distributed in schools through the Ministry of Education recently.
Ministry of General Education spokesperson Hillary Chipango clarified that the ministry had not received any reports on rejection of books through the Lusaka Provincial Education Office (PEO) from the time the distribution was done.
Mr Chipango said the information was just a mere rumour that should not be taken seriously by members of the public.
He said if the Ministry had received any books back it would have communicated the news to the public to make consultations and find out why schools had rejected the books.
“The ministry is not aware that some books have been rejected by some schools because there were no reports or any books that were received,” said Mr Chipango.
It was reported by some sections of the media that some schools had rejected some books that were distributed in schools as most of them were reported to be unsuitable for the Zambian syllabus.
They claimed that distributed textbooks by some foreign companies had materials which did not match with the local syllabuses because some concepts were not understood by learners hence the rejection.
