ZUJ chapels elect new office bearers

THE Zambia Union of Journalists (ZUJ) chapels have ushered in new leaders with Sunday Times acting chief reporter Sylvester Mwale becoming the new president for Lusaka Chapel after going through unopposed.
Mr Mwale takes over from James Muyanwa who was recently elected ZUJ national president.
Joseph Banda is the vice president in Lusaka while Delphine Zulu went unopposed as new secretary for the chapel.
Senior reporter Munambeza Muwanei took over from Samuel Lukhanda as Ndola Chapel president after beating her only rival Rebecca Mushota in hotly contested elections held on Friday.
Guston Chola and Abigail Milambo went unopposed as vice president and secretary, respectively for the Ndola Chapel.
Kitwe bureau chief Maya Ntanda also went through unopposed to retain the presidency of Times of Zambia Kitwe chapel so was her vice Tando
Lusenga.
At the Zambia Daily Mail, Monica Kayombo got seven votes to beat Aggrey Banda who polled six to retain the presidency for Ndola Chapel while Hone Siame continues to rule in Kitwe after going unopposed.
The elections for the Zambia Daily Mail Lusaka Chapel did not take place. At Zambia Printing Company (ZPC), Dominic Inambao retained the presidency unopposed so was his vice Francis Zulu.
ZUJ president, James Muyanwa congratulated the new leaders and the contesters for enhancing democracy in the union.
“To those who have gone through, work has just begun as our members expect a lot from you. To those who did not make it, there is always next time and thanks for helping to enhance democracy in our vibrant Union,” Mr Muyanwa said.
ZUJ draws its membership from three companies namely Times of Zambia, Zambia Daily Mail and the Zambia Printing Company.
