Religious Corner LogoMANY Christians are completely clueless of who the Holy Spirit is.
Those who say they have the Holy Spirit still don’t know why He is in them. Many denominations have been formed out of who and the works of the Holy Spirit and the biggest issue of them all is Trinity.
Does it exist, how can God be in Trinity and how does it work.
This author has heard many Christians praying to God to send the Holy Spirit to come and dwell among them.
Some unfortunately do not believe in the Holy Spirit, because they think he does not exist or matter in a Christian’s life as a result they believe only in God and Jesus.
Some say the Holy Spirit is a cloud or smoke coming out of heaven or the feeling which influences people to shake or a prayer handkerchief which some call mantle or a weapon to use on forces of the Devil.
When attacked by forces of the enemy the first thing that comes to their mind is that the Holy Ghost fireshould consume all their enemies.
The sub-title is “Who is the Holy Spirit” and not “What is the Holy Spirit” because the Holy Spirit is a being, an individual with personality.
He is more than a force or power and He is a living heavenly person.
A young woman while explaining the topic on the Holy Spirit mentioned that the Holy Spirit is from God while the Holy Ghost is from the devil.
This is not true, the Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost refer to one and the same person. The Holy Spirit is also called the comforter, the counsellor, the helper and is the third person of the Godhead, also called as Trinity.
Holy Spirit is the power by which God made the whole world. The Spirit was first mentioned in Genesis 1:2b “And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

God’s Spirit was actively involved in the creation of the world and this reason why it is not possible to think that it does not exist or not to believe in Trinity. In the Old Testament we also read about the Spirit in Job 33:4 and Psalm 104:30.
The Bible says the Holy Spirit is the one who garnished the heaven Job 26:13, NLT says “His spirit made the heavens beautiful, and his power pierced the gliding serpent. When God speaks, the Holy Spirit is the one who brings it to pass.
He’s the doer of the things of God. You receive the Holy Spirit after being born again. God has not only made the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has actually given Him to us.
According to The Student Bible Dictionary, the Holy Spirit is God’s spirit. Lives within all Christians to help them, communicate God’s truth to them, convince that God’s ways are right and comfort them when they are sad John 15:26, 16: 7-8, 13-15.
The attributes of the Holy Spirit indicates that He is a living person, an individual, instead of just a force, it is pleasing to learn that He has a mind as recorded in Romans 8:27a, He has knowledge according to 1 Corinthians 2:11b and He has emotions(love, grief, joy) Romans 15:30, Ephesians 4:30 and 1 Thessalonians 1:6.
In John 14:15-17, Jesus stated that He would send the apostles another helper who will be with them forever.  Jesus explained to the disciples what the Holy Spirit will do once it comes to them.
Jesus promised to send the Spirit of truth, the counselor, “If you love me, you will obey what l command.
And l will ask the father, and he will give you another counselor to be with you forever. He fulfilled the promise and never left us like orphans.
Apostle Paul tells us that if the Spirit dwells in us, we will bear its harvest. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)
The Holy Spirit shares the divine nature with the Father being God and the Son being Jesus. He is one with them but has a distinct personality. He is an important, central person of the Bible.
