TWO men of Chipata in Eastern Province have been jailed for 40 years each with hard labour for defilement while a Malawian got 35 years for a similar offence.
A third offender received a 25-year sentencing for defilement as well.
One of them is a 30-year-old security guard who defiled his eight-year-old biological daughter.
High Court Judge Florence Lengalenga slapped the sentence on Noah Banda of Mchini Township.
Banda defiled the girl between January and October last year after his wife had gone for work.
In mitigation, Banda said he was a first offender and pleaded with the court to exercise maximum leniency on him.
However, Ms Justice Lengalenga said despite hearing his plea for leniency, the offence he committed was a serious one, deserving punishment which would also deter would-be offenders.
In the other case, Ms Justice Lengalenga sentenced Masauso Banda, 22, a bus conductor of Nabvutika Township for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Masauso defiled the girl between January and September last year.
The Malawian, Davison Banda, 29, who resided in Kapata area and worked as a carpenter was jailed for defiling a four-year-six-month-old girl last year.
Ms Justice Lengalenga also jailed Sipiliyano Zulu, 68, of Pakumasi Village in Chief Chinunda’s area to 25 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling his two-year-old granddaughter in January this year.
