MIDFIELDER CLETUS Chama Chota scored for Zesco United before he saw red as his side compounded Lusaka Dynamos relegation woes to move second on the MTN-FAZ Super League on goal difference over Nkana.
It was a perfect warm up coach George Lwandamina could have asked for as the champions prepare for next Wednesday’s CAF 2016 Champions League Group A match against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
The win saw Zesco move to 28 points relegating Nkana into third position while Zanaco enjoy top slot on 34 points. Dynamos remained stuck on 17th position with 14 points.
Jackson Mwanza connected a Ayo Ozywafemi cross to unleash a long range effort outside the box to give Zesco the lead in the 34th minute.
The goal came four minutes after Thomas Mboela headed wide at goal a Kenny Musonda cross to deny the hosts the lead.
Chama then doubled Zesco’s lead two minutes into the second half from a free-kick after Mwanza was fouled by Sydney Kalume.
The Zesco player marker was then shown a straight red card by Mazabuka based referee Emmanuel Njolo for an elbow on Jubel Sakala in the 84th minute.
Meanwhile, Zanaco are pondering to leasing Heroes National Stadium as their home venue and hope to host 12 times champions Nkana on July 2 for the opening league clash.
Impeccable sources told the Times yesterday that the Zanaco executive were in talks with Heroes Stadium management to lease out the facility.
The source said Sunset Stadium was becoming small to host big games and the club was looking at alternatives like playing at Heroes Stadium.
“Zanaco are in talks with Heroes Stadium to have the stadium leased,
Sunset is becoming small to host games and there are plan is to have the Nkana game played there.
“They are almost finalising what’s remaining is agreement of payments, one of the suggestions is to share gate takings. Look at Zesco, they play at Levy Mwanawasa stadium, it will also be good for Heroes management to agree and start making extra income than allowing the stadium to become a white elephant,” the source said.
