VOYAGERS Travel and Tours yesterday donated football kit worth K30 000 to Ndola United in a bid to help the FAZ Division One Zone Two side, win promotion to the Super Division next season.
Among the donated kits were two sets of jerseys, track suits and three pairs of stockings to the side currently seventh on the log with 18 points and trail leaders Konkola Blades by nine points.
Club patron Julius Sakala, who spoke on behalf of the company, said the donation was part of Voyagers Travel and Tours social corporate responsibility and will continue contributing to the development of sports through such ventures.
Sakala, who spoke passionately about the team, said it pains him to see the club with rich footballing history in Zambia still playing lower division football.
“The donation of this kit to Ndola United Football Club by Voyages shows you that this company cares for this wonderful club and as players and technical staff, you should replicate your efforts by showing these people that you are very appreciative by winning the promotion to the Super Division next season,” he said.
Ndola City Council local government administrator general Macloud Nyirenda expressed gratitude with Voyages gesture to the team.
Nyirenda applauded the team to do its best by repaying the confidence the sponsors are showing by winning matches.
He expressed hope that the donated kit would help the team develop a ‘never die attitude’ in the coming games because it was evident that the club were facing a number of financial challenges.
Club chairperson Bruno Mukeya urged Sakala to continue lobbying for more sponsorship for the club he loves so much.
Mukeya urged the players to continue exhibiting high levels of discipline at all times and should leave administrative issues to the club management.
