UNITED States-based Zambian artiste Chanda Mbao has finally released his highly anticipated video for his new single Selfish.
A self declared ‘rolling stone’ unveiled the romantically inclined video on his 27th birthday.
The video has a touch of professionalism as it was directed by DJ Lo of IKONiK Media records and stars Maria Nepembe the former Big Brother Housemate (BBA).
The Selfish track was produced by Shom-C of ZB Zero and this partnership has proved to be strong with the pair putting out extremely well produced tracks.
Mbao enlists vocal assistance from the talented Scott and the collaboration is flawless as the video spins a tale of Chanda losing his girl due to not paying her enough attention then working to get her back once he sees the error of his ways.
He says the artwork for Selfish is inspired by The Odyssey by Homer and depicts his African version of Penelope.
In explaining the video dynamics he would say: “In The Odyssey, Penelope waited 20 years for Odysseus to return from The Trojan War and all the while, she remained faithful.”
Mbao goes on to say ; “Even though it may be an excruciating sacrifice to make waiting while we fulfil our destinies as men there are amazing women out there who do exactly that, despite all of the things they are responsible for, including raising our heirs.”
While his odysseys may seem Selfish, ultimately, he says he attempts to conquer these ambitious pursuits with the desire to be the great men.
Deriving his inspiration from snoop Dogg and Nas, Mbao started music at the age of nine.
