ZAMBIANS have been urged to support President Edgar Lungu judging by the enormous achievements that the country has gained over the last one year.
Patriotic Front (PF) member Warren Mwambazi said that Mr Lungu’s vision anchored on national infrastructure development should be supported by all citizens.
Mr Mwambazi, who was among other party aspiring parliamentarians left out in the recent adoption process to stand in Bwana Mkubwa Constituency, said Mr Lungu has more valuable ideas to continue uplifting the welfare of citizens.
He said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that President Lungu deserved a fresh mandate because he was a hardworking leader eager to develop the country.
“The President (Mr Lungu) has worked hard to improve the economy, create more local jobs and has ensured more development is taken to all parts of the country. He deserves a fresh mandate to continue with his national development agenda,” he said.
He said, the turbulence the country was facing was owed to global economic shocks such as low copper prices which were not out of Mr Lungu’s own making since Zambia was also affected like other copper producing nations.
Despite such challenges, he said, Zambia had continued to record notable economic gains because Mr Lungu was pursuing an agenda of national development.
Mr Mwambazi observed that Mr Lungu was a God fearing leader who was committed to fostering more peace and unity ahead of the August 11, general elections.
He also urged PF aspiring candidates left out during the recent party adoptions process to continue supporting Mr Lungu.
He said there was no need to complain about being left out because they could only be one leader at a time.
“It will not help us to complain since we were left out in the adoption. Let’s remain loyal and support our party,” he said.
He encouraged the members to campaign for President Lungu to enable him accumulate the 50 per cent plus one threshold in the first round of the forthcoming elections.
