A UNIVERSITY of Zambia (UNZA) lecturer has pleaded not guilty to two counts of manslaughter.
Gershom Chishimba, a natural sciences lecturer of house number 3, Waterfalls Village in Lusaka, was initially charged with two counts of murder, but they were reduced to manslaughter.
Dr Chishimba is alleged to have on December 27, 2013 in Lusaka caused the death of Greenford Mchelen’ganga in Liuwa National Park when they went hunting birds.
He is also alleged to have murdered Elias Chalwe, a fisherman of Shibuyunji area, during a hunting expedition on the same date.
Dr Chishimba pleaded not guilty to both counts when he appeared before High Court Judge Eddie Sikazwe on Monday this week.
Trial commences next Monday.
