THE Ndola Squash Club is looking for K60,000 to host the 2016 Zambia Closed squash tournament over the Heroes and Unity four-day holiday.
Ndola squash club chairperson Victor Mpundu confirmed this in an interview and that the club has been preparing to host the tournament since January and logistics were slowly falling into place.
“The Ndola squash club has set aside K60, 000 as the budget for this year’s Zambia Closed tournament to be held at our club and as per tradition,we have extended the gesture to our cooperating partners willing to sponsor the tournament to come on board,” he said.
He promised that his club was destined to host the most successful event ever so that it leaves a lasting impression.
He said the club was expecting to receive the cream of Zambian squash players to feature during the tournament.
Mpundu also disclosed that a month later the club would hold the Judge Lloyd Siame remembrance tournament.
The Judge Siame tournament is an annual event hosted by the club in remembrance of the contribution made by former Zambia Squash Association (ZSA) president Lloyd Siame to the development of sport in the country.
Judge Siame is currently the club life member and patron of Ndola Squash Club.
He further disclosed that the club has budgeted K30, 000 for hosting this year’s Inter-Schools Squash championships.
He said the club attaches importance to the development of the sport in school going children.
