THE case of three suspended Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) rugby players will be heard this weekend when the disciplinary committee sits.
Internationals Benaya Mukwamba, Patson Kasonde and Fine Chikumbe have been provisionally suspended for allegedly attacking referee Joseph Ingwe when KPF’s was losing 6-3 at home bitter rivals to Diggers in a league match at KPF in Kitwe on April 23.
Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) General Secretary Francis Chitambo said the case should have come up during the week but that the trio will now appear before the Disciplinary Committee this Saturday.
“The case of the three suspended KPF players was deferred to Saturday, May 7. They players are required to appear in person. The affected have been given two weeks in which to appeal,” Chitambo said.
The trio’s suspension saw them miss KPF’s hosting of the 2016 American Cup that was held from April 30 to May 1 in Kitwe.
