By JIM FIKOLOMA –

THE highly anticipated Super League clash between Nakambala Leopards and Nchanga Rangers slated for Nakambala Stadium was postponed due to the cholera outbreak in Mazabuka.
Nakambala chairperson, Lloyd Mwale confirmed in an interview that health authorities in Mazabuka have directed through the office of the District Commissioner, that all public gatherings be avoided as a measure to contain the outbreak.
A visibly disappointed Mwale, expressed worry with the development, saying it may affect the team’s momentum as the boys would be out of action this weekend.
“The development is pretty bad for us as you have seen that the boys are in upbeat mood to bag points and this match would have served as a dress rehearsal for the next fixtures against Red Arrows and Zanaco next week,” he said.
However, Mwale comforted himself, saying the team was in capable hands of Patrick Phiri whom he said had vast experience in dealing with such situations.
And coach, Patrick Phiri said that his charges have swiftly changed their attention and have since focused on the next match.
Zesco 5 Blackpool 0
Jesse Jackson Were scored four goals and had one disallowed as Zesco United beat Mufulira Blackpool 5-0 to close the gap on league leaders Nkana who play today against Lusaka Dynamos to one point reports NDINAWE SIMPELWE .
Zesco piled more misery on Blackpool who are yet to win a match this season as the merciless Were opened the scores in the 22nd minute when he headed in a John Ching’andu cross and the Kenyan was again on the score sheet four minutes later when he beat goalkeeper Jimmy Syamvundu at the near post with his left foot but the goal was disallowed for offside.
The defending champions did not have to wait long for the second goal when Jackson Mwanza, after beating two defenders nicely set up Cletus Chama who rounded off Syamvundu to double the lead in the 32nd minute before Were grabbed his second five minutes later with a powerful low shot inside the box take a 3-0 advantage at the interval.
After resumption, Zesco continued their dominance with possessive football which left the visitors chasing shadows and it was not long before Were got a his hattrick in the 56th minute from a Maybin Mwaba assist to make it 4-0.
Zesco sealed the three points with another Were goal in the 62 second minute to move to 15 points from five games while Blackpool dropped to the bottom of the table with only three points.
Napsa 1 Warriors 0
Napsa Stars yesterday posted their first win in the league edging visiting Kabwe Wariors1-0 in perhaps a show of support to the beleaguered coach Wilson Mwale reports YVONNE SAKALA from Woodlands Stadium.
After a barren first half the Wilson Mwale tutored boys came with full force to find the back of the net in the 75th minute when Mathews Macha connected a Brian Lubaba corner. The goal came as a surprise to the team such that the entire team raced to hug their maligned coach.
Kabwe Woriors would have leveled matters on the 78 th minute through Mareel Kalenda, but shot went straight into the Napsa goalie Philip Banda’s palms.  The result takes Napsa to six points from eight games and move from the bottom to 14th on the log.
Buffaloes 2  Power 1
Green Buffaloes came from behind to beat wasteful Power Dynamos 2-1 to the annoyance of the Power fans who camped outside the dressing room baying for Tenant Chilumba’s blood writes SANDRA MWILA from Independence Stadium.
Power made a false start in the 46 minute when Martin Phiri scored from an Alex Mwamba cross but celebrations were short lived when Lottie Phiri equalised in the 51st and Sebastain Mwansa won the tie in 82nd.
Buffaloes climb to fifth on the log with 11 points above Power who drop to sixth still with 10 point and seven games played. Chilumba had a difficult time leaving the dressing room and was sneaked out using the safety outlet.

Arrows were a better side all afternoon long and created numerious chances which they squandered. The win moves them up to 10th position while Eagles drop to 15th.

Graven Chitalu missed a penalty in 64th minute as Nkwazi handed Forest Rangers their third League loss in a row to send the Ndola based team into the bottom three after playing seven games reports RONALD CHAWE from Levy Mwanawasa.
Nkwazi’s Kalaba Chikwanda capitalised on Forest’s defensive lapses to score a solidarity goal of the game in the 27th minute to give his visiting team the much needed points that saw the police out-fit sneak into the third position with 13 points and reap flogged not in action Nakambala Leopards.
Forest, who have played seven games with five points have recorded a win once, two draws and fours loses were frustered more by the visitor’s time buying tactics of falling to the ground and should thank them for being wasteful in front goal.
Elsewhere, promotional sides Lumwana Radiants and Lusaka Tigers played to a barren draw in Solwezi.
