ZAMBEEF Products Plc’s customers are set to benefit from price reductions of more than two per cent on a range of its Novatek stockfeed products following strengthening of the Kwacha and production efficiencies.
The company has reduced its Novatek stockfeed products in the range of between two per cent and five per cent.
Novatek general manager Walter Roodt said in a statement that the reduction in prices would assist farmers to compete favourably on the market.
This will turn into a profit with the end consumers enjoying quality well-priced meat, dairy products and eggs as the benefit is passed along the value chain.
“Zambeef Products Plc’s customers are to benefit from price reductions of between two and five per cent on a range of its Novatek stockfeed products. This follows strengthening of the Kwacha and production efficiencies,” Mr Roodt said.
Mr Roodt also made reference to the Zamhatch feedmill currently under construction in Mpongwe, and the fish feed extrusion plant that would double in capacity to 1,600 tonnes in support of the aquaculture industry in the fourth quarter of this year.
He said the farmers should expect more of the quality affordable feed with the completion of the two projects.
“The two feed plants will significantly contribute to increased feed milling capacity for Novatek and bring more healthy competition on the market,” he said.
Novatek has experienced steady growth since the introduction of its products on the market. Animal feed production rose by 10 per cent to 130,279 tonnes during the financial year to September 30, 2015, compared with 118,885 tonnes in the previous year.
Novatek produces 13,000 tonnes of stockfeed every month out of which some 30 per cent goes into the Zambeef value chain, while the remaining 70 per cent is sold to farmers across Zambia and the Southern African region.
Exports account for some eight per cent of revenue.
