INFORMATION and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili has been conferred with an honorary doctorate in public administration by California University of the United States of America (USA).
This is in recognition of his positive contributions to society.
Meanwhile, Dr Kambwili, who is also Chief Government spokesperson, thanked the institution for the gesture and pledged to work hard.
Minister of Higher Education Micheal Kaingu said during the award ceremony of the California University in Lusaka yesterday that Zambian universities needed to confer honorary degrees on more people who had positively contributed to national development.
Dr Kaingu said this in a speech read for him by Ministry of Higher Education director of higher education authority Stephen Simukanga.
“I urge universities to continue honouring people with honorary degrees so as to encourage other people to work hard,” Dr Kaingu said.
He said it was gratifying that notable universities had begun to recognise people who had made positive contributions to the well-being of the country.
